What f-stop did you have your camera set to create a shallow depth of field?
For a shallow depth of field i put the camera's aperture on f/9.
What ISO and WB settings did you use?
I used auto iso and incandescent white balance.
If you were on a point and shoot camera, what setting(s) did you use?
I had to set the camera to aperture and then adjust the settings to fix the ISO and WB.

One image that shows a large depth of field is the hallway. You can see all the way to the stairs in focus.

Which photo is better? Why?
I like the photo that has the whole hallway in focus because it makes it look like you are actually looking down the hall with your own eyes.
Why would you want to use a shallow depth of field?
To have something in the front or back in focus but the other side is out of focus to produce a farther back effect.
When/in what situation would a large depth of field be better?
a large depth of field would be better when you a trying to photograph something that is in a row or down a street and to get it all in focus.
